Congratulations to Ravinia Elementary School, the iRead 2020 winning school. During the month of January, students at Ravinia read an average of 1485 minutes per student. The Raccoons smashed the iRead record they set last year of 1156 per student. As is a tradition for the iRead, a special trophy presentation was planned on March 5. The Raccoons celebrated with a balloon drop, a visit from Rocky Raccoon, and special iRead champion t-shirts for every student.
Across D112, K-8 students read for a combined 1,688,726 minutes between January 11 and February 3. That’s 636 minutes per student! This year’s read-a-thon also raised over $22,000 to support the 112 Education Foundation’s Author Visit program bringing nationally-known authors into every school in the district.
