Award-winning author, illustrator and graphic novelist, Nathan Hale, entertained scores of families as part of the first-ever Family Night Author Visit, funded by the 112 Education Foundation. The event, organized by a team of District 112 librarians, and hosted by the Highland Park Public Library, took place on Tuesday, May 7. Mr. Hale, best known for his Hazardous Tales series, engaged the audience in a wonderfully told and illustrated story about Lewis and Clark’s lesser-known trials on their westward journey. Mr. Hale brilliantly wove in important historical information with sharp wit and humor, all the while illustrating the story onto a screen for the audience. He also talked about the importance of visuals in storytelling, and the richness they add to the experience.
