Janet Lubetkin’s Foundation Grant funded two professionals from the Music Institute of Chicago, Matt Boresi, playwright, and Rachel Page, songwriter, to guide students in creating their original musical. Students learned how a story arc applies to a musical, taking what they have learned in ELA about characters, setting, rising action and problem resolution to a musical.
In preparation for “Lincoln Goes Country,” students studied themes of country music, chord patterns on ukuleles and xylophones, and learned to line dance.
