Northwood students united for an afternoon of service-learning as part of the 9th annual Day of Giving. Throughout the month of November, donations of food, toiletries, clothing and toys were collected from across the entire community. On Friday, December 6 the event began with a kick-off assembly featuring Northwood Gives Back student leaders and an inspiring presentation by Angel Roman, Director of Boys and Girls Club of Lake County, about the importance of giving back to one’s community. Following the assembly, all Northwood students, joined by Edgewood’s Girl Up and Reach for Change clubs, organized the donations into a big superstore in the gym. Students also made fleece blankets and care packages for every family who came to the Day of Giving event on Saturday morning, December 7. Over 500 people came through the doors from 4 different school districts to shop for necessities at no charge. Thank you to Northwood teachers Ida Fiore, Constance Cunningham, and Caitlin Lucci for spearheading this meaningful Foundation Grant program.
