Thanks to Ravinia Festival’s Reach*Teach*Play education programs, NSSD112 4th and 5th graders were treated to a fabulous morning of music and learning at Ravinia’s Bennett-Gordon Hall. Students enjoyed WindSync, a collective of five outstanding North American wind musicians from Houston, Texas who came together as performers and educators. The group, who loves to engage students in music education, spent time cleverly introducing each of their instruments: flute, oboe, bassoon, french horn and clarinet. They played a variety of music including dances from West Side Story, Ballero, and a Texas-style Hoedown. The performance provided an engaging, interactive opportunity to learn about music. Students took part in a robust question and answer session too! The 112 Education Foundation is grateful to Ravinia’s Reach*Teach*Play education programs for providing unique musical experiences, like this one, to our students.
