Jenna Weinstein’s kindergarteners and Lindsey Petlak’s fourth graders at Indian Trail have been combining literary arts with STEM as part of a Foundation Grant program. Last week the students participated in STEM activities with a “Frozen” twist including creating an ice castle from sugar cubes, exploring crystals, creating symmetrical snowflakes from K’nex and building sleds. Throughout the year, these creative teachers are collaborating to watch their students “engage their imaginations as they participate in STEM challenges that originate from classic children’s tales.”
