On November 13, thanks to a grant from the D112 Foundation, Elm Place’s Culture to Culture Club sponsored an all-school assembly featuring Anne Shimojima, a professional storyteller who formerly taught at Braeside School. Mrs. Shimojima delighted and “mesmerized” students with folktales from Western Europe, in support of Culture to Culture Club’s November focus on European Culture. “I really liked her, commented one student. “She was enthusiastic.”
Following the assembly, Mrs. Shimojima gave a short talk about the universality of storytelling across cultures at a reception in the Elm Place IMC with a group of 29 students. To top the day off, she gifted the after-school group with a bonus story.
