In April, Sherwood students participated in National Poetry Month in several ways, thanks to a Foundation Grant from Helen Weiss, Sherwood’s Library Media Specialist. Students had a fabulous Poetry Day on April 29th with poet Bill Buczinsky writing their own poems and learning about rhythm and metaphors. Students and staff participated in National Poem in My Pocket Day. Students and staff were asked to either write or select a favorite poem to keep in their pocket and share throughout the day. Throughout the day, students and staff had the opportunity to ask each other to share their poems. A mini poetry slam during lunchtime allowed students to share their poems with everyone.
